British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge follows the boxing community shared its support for the champion in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
