Golden sun, savory pies and iconic stadiums - what more could an England cricket fan desire?

Ideally, they'd want an Ashes series in Australia where they remain in contention to secure the famous trophy after the first three Tests.

Unfortunately, this scenario is off the table during this tour, after the hosts' dominant 82-run win in Adelaide put the hosts 3-0 up for the fourth consecutive series on Australian grounds.

The Barmy Army, the organized fan base, have 3,000 fans making the journey for the last two matches in the SCG and MCG.

In addition, there are organized trips who will celebrate the holidays in Australia, as well as relatives and companions planning a special expedition.

The Disappointed Travelers

The Ryding siblings are among those affected.

The four siblings had their flights and tickets secured for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "12 months ago", hoping to witness a rare England series success.

From afar, they've seen Australia outplay the visitors in just a short period from their family home in the north of England.

"Everyone at work has been teasing me regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," said Sam.

"Our expectation had been that we would have something to play for upon our arrival."

Fading Positivity

Hope was abundant about England's chances of ending their 15-year wait for a triumph on Australian soil prior to the first ball.

However, the situation is now facing the prospect of extending their winless run in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the fourth Test gets under way in the MCG on Christmas Day.

Ben Stokes' side - and their fans - will be hoping to sidestep a clean sweep.

One sibling noted the "entertainment" of head coach the positive style of play in recent times had "reinvigorated" the five-day game for English supporters.

Yet the fans said they had low expectations for the final two games - and all they are asking for from the players is "a show of spirit".

"Commentators consistently alludes to it, but it all hinges on mental resilience. 'Bazball' has been turned into a buzzword now that is just, like, impractical batting," commented another sibling.

"Over the course of five days, you should apply yourself. Wafting outside 'wide of off stump has never been in the fundamentals, and that is largely because of the frontline batsmen."

The Remaining Matches

When questioned if he believed England will triumph in a Test in the current series, one fan responded: "It appears the Aussies are just too good at the moment."

"It will require multiple performers that delivers for the team and makes a big impact."

Regardless of the result, the fans are excited about the trip.

"It will be a wonderful trip anyway," added another sibling. "We have to go with that mindset."

"Obviously it is disappointing we aren't fighting for more, but we have made a substantial financial commitment by now."

"We will make the most of spending the festive season overseas. Additionally, it's our first experience abroad during the festive period."

A schoolteacher, Katie is focused on enjoying the lengthy journey as part of her seasonal break.

"Should the cricket disappoint, I've got golf to rely on," she finished.
