🔗 Share this article The Red Devils Set to Sign Germany Striker Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich The Women's Super League club are finalising completing the signing for prolific German striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions. A Marquee Signing for the WSL Side Schüller, who has six months left on her contract, is known as a prolific goalscorer for both club and country. She has netted over 100 goals for Bayern and found the net 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. Her arrival is viewed as a marquee signing for the WSL side. Her exit from Munich has been anticipated after she appeared to be fighting back tears while thanking the club's supporters following a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently. It was reported in December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its leading strikers. Per reports, all the paperwork for the transfer have now been completed. Consistent Goal Threat to Strengthen United's Attack The 28-year-old’s arrival should represent a major uplift to United’s forward line. She has been remarkably consistent with her finishing in Germany’s top flight. Over seven straight seasons, including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-digit tally of league goals. She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals. Gathering Momentum at Old Trafford Securing Schüller’s signature comes at a time when United seem to be building momentum. Their recent on-pitch successes include qualifying for the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals. In the transfer market, the winter break has brought additional business: The acquisition of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal. The contract extension for Japan playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since joining in 2023. On the midfielder's new deal, a senior figure commented: “She has become a vital component to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and technical ability allows her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.” Lundkvist, who has arrived from a club in the NWSL, said: “You can feel how much the club have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
