Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device

Exactly 30 years since the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and introducing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is why Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.

Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
